The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee projects in the areas of Water-Wastewater, Drainage, Waterways and Wetlands, and Utilities.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing the development and delivery lifecycle of government sector projects, preferably on the client side but contractor-side experience will also be considered.

This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills to ensure the successful execution and completion of complex infrastructure projects.
  
Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Initiation:
  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, objectives, timelines, budget, resources, and risks.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, prepare detailed project proposals and business cases.
  • Engage with stakeholders to define project requirements and expectations.
Project Execution and Management:
  • Lead the execution of projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project plans and schedules.
  • Monitor and control project progress, budget, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, government authorities, utilities, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings and communication updates to keep all parties informed of project status, issues, and changes.
  • Address and resolve stakeholder concerns promptly and effectively.
Risk Management:
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle to minimise impact on project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
Quality Assurance:
  • Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure project deliverables meet required standards and specifications.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to verify project progress and quality.
  • Address any non-conformities or quality issues promptly.
Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring projects are delivered within financial constraints.
  • Monitor project expenditures and implement cost-control measures as needed.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders.
Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to team members.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project management, with a focus on water infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in the water and utilities sectors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of water supply, treatment, distribution, and wastewater management systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale government sector projects, preferably on the client side.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within scope, time, and budget.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
