Role
We are looking for a full time Senior Environmental Consultant with the ability to use your technical background to deliver high-quality work in the areas of contaminated land assessment and environmental monitoring.
As part of the team, you will work alongside new senior management who will be committed to your success and development within the role.
You will enjoy working on multiple projects across the CBD and surrounds with varying complexity and also be a keen problem solver to look after clients and stakeholders within a project.
Responsibilities
- Utilising your technical background to deliver high-quality work in the areas of contaminated land assessment, environmental monitoring and completing occupational hygiene risk assessments.
- A sound knowledge of applicable contaminated land legislature/regulations and practical implications thereof.
- Preparation of detailed project design, including developing detailed scopes of work for contaminated land investigations, detailed development of budgets, manage site assessment works to assess impacts associated with contaminated sites in correlation with auditors, clients, industry and legislative standards.
- Conducting desktop research on site history, fieldwork and sampling for environmental investigations for soil, vapour, air, surface water, wastewater and groundwater assessments by collecting, compiling and interpreting field and laboratory data.
- Monitoring assigned projects to ensure they meet defined project objectives (i.e., meet Client and regulatory needs, timeframes, budget etc.) and regularly communicate with key stakeholders.
- Coordinate contract management, including suppliers, sub-contractors, internal staff and to assist other project managers with works and deliverables.
- Preparation of proposals and high-quality deliverables (reporting) through producing technical reports detailing investigations, risk assessments and solutions for clients.
- Contributing by identifying, creating and converting pipeline opportunities through proactive Client relationship management to promote and enhance the interests, welfare, business, profitability, growth and reputation of the consultancy.
- Leading, mentoring and developing a small team of junior staff (3 presently plus more in the future) to deliver quality and value add to our clients while at the same time reflecting company culture and values.
- Relevant tertiary qualification is preferable in Environmental Science or Engineering
- 5 + years’ experience in contaminated land, or other environmental consulting
- As this position includes both office and field work, applicants must be physically able to work in the field (including in remote areas), including possible overnight travel, or weekend work, where needed.
- Willingness to grow professionally both as a technical expert as well as a client-facing professional with necessary commercial acumen.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence at all levels both internally and external stakeholders.
- A current driving licence is essential.
As the role is based 10 minutes from the CBD it has excellent vehicle access and public transport access.
